If some others could give some feedback on the bass in this mix, tell me if you agree about the muddiness, or bassiness.  I'm trying to learn this new room, and new monitor set-up.

Yes its a little muddy but not too bassy.
OK thanks.  And thanks for putting together an "up to now" mix.  Seems to be taking shape nicely.

Thanks for sharing such a really sweet song and allowing us to cannibalize it... and by us, I mean me ;)

here's my first shot at it, with overdubs that desperately need fixing. all the monitoring has been done on headphones, so I expect the balance and eq to be a bit off.

anyway, here it is :)

Stick thanks for giving it a go.  I like some of the stuff you've added.  I would encourage anyone who adds anything to post the stems so everyone can pick and choose what to use while mixing this.

Here are the stems, warts and all:

[removed because they're not aligned with the original. please find a newer version below. sorry...]

Percussion and bass, in addition to direct recorded guitars on one folder and processed guitars on another. And some intro noise... :)
Because I added a bar after bar 143, before the pickup (and extended the fade out of the acoustic guitars) on my mix, I've included a vocal track just for reference.

here's my latest mix: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24873953/Glorious%20Unknown%20mix_v3.mp3

Thanks again for the song. I love it and it's been great fun working on it. I'm really looking forward to see where it goes from here :)

cheers

Stickfigure your tracks doesnt align with the original tracks!.
Could you rebounce them starting from 0, so everybody who wants to try mixing this, will have tracks that all lign up from 0.
Course right know I tryed to align the Ref vocal to the original and all your tracks still doesnt align with the originals :)
So I have no idea what goes where!? ;)

:$:$:$ sorry...

because of the tempo change, I had to move the tracks a little bit. The project starts with 123bpm, and the tracks are aligned at the 0:00.193 position, so they would match the beat. I did an edit and tempo change roughly at 34.3.00 to 134 bpm. it´s roughly the same process guitar zero used and pictured before. I did roughly the same thing around bar 143, extending the acoustic guitars fade out(very noticeably, I may add - that´s some seriously bad stitching :)) for one full bar to delay the vocal entrance.

so, I guess you really wouldn't be able to align my tracks with the originals... :) should I post all my project tracks?

Yea I know theres a tempo change, but that shouldnt affect the bounces to not align!.
If you make your tracks to the same length from 0 as the original tracks than it should be no problem at all to align the tracks. :)
Provided that you have the original tracks starting at 0 in you project!.

Double sorry! :(

I guess I had the "render time selection" option selected instead of "render project". My apologies. Here's the new batch of tracks. And this time I've checked against guitar zero's original files ;)

[also removed, same reason]

and here are the DI guitars which I forgot to include...

[ditto]
