Here's the lyrics with the chord numbers from the chord chart.

VERSE 1
 1           2           3             1
Sky open wide, releasing the open breeze
                           2                    4
And a whisper that hope is coming back for you and me.
         1              2        3                1
And soon we’ll set sail by thousands in fleet.
                    2                4
Commander, captain, and crew
                   5
The rescued ones.

VERSE 2
          1                    2          3                   1
C’mon flood the banks inward.  Flood us to the core.
      1                           2               4
The deepest ocean won’t scare us anymore.
                 1                    2             3                4
No, no we’ll chase it off the end of the earth, to the shore,
       1                  2             4                        5
And breathe in the last breath    before taking the endless one.

CHORUS
5                   7              5                  8         9
We can lift the anchor up. Lift it up with certainty
             7               5              8
Casting waves to the storm overthrown.
8        9      8         7                     5                    8
Fix your eyes on paradise where you and me are meant to be
9              7       8             1 2 3 1          1     2   4
See you at home, yeah, yeah,       woh-o-woah-o-woh

VERSE 3
        1            2                         3              1
Commander declares there’s new life in the air.
1                           2                 4
Captains eyes burn bright like the sun.
              1                2                  3              1
And after ten thousand days for the crew to sing praise,
                         2              4                            5
Still none can compare to the day the echoes have begun.

Oh and we sing it out.

CHORUS 2  We can lift the anchor up…

BRIDGE
4                           5                8
Lifted by your love, taken by the flood.
4                     5             8
Ringing out the glorious unknown
4                        5          9                   8
Singing out these lungs, a promise yet to come

                     7            9                    8                    7
And that’s the wonder.  We could sail for days and know wonder.
8
Yeah, yeah

CHORUS 3
                       7                     5                        8
Fix your eyes on paradise, where you and me are meant to be
9               7          8                           7
See you at home, yeah, fix your eyes on paradise,
          5                       8                 9                 7        8
Where you and me are meant to be.  See you at home, yeah yeah.

The run up at the end goes 4 3 1 2 6

UPDATEDLINKS...

Hi,

I've done a simple drum track and electric bass on this song. I hope you like it.

http://nicksevilla.com/music/Glorious_Unknown_NOEQPLEASEMIX_03.mp3

It's a very rough mix, only to give a listen to what I did... tomorrow I am starting some album mixes, so I won't be hanging here for a while...

As far as I could tell, this song is in the key of Ab... at least the Tonic of the song is Ab, and there is a Cminor chord there somewhere...

Yes the key is A flat.  You might have missed it, but I did mention the key of A flat in the OP.  I like the general feel of what you did with the drums.  You're on the right track.  Bass part sounds excellent.  It's fairly subdued, but gives the whole song more body.  I like it.  Thanks for taking the time to do this.  Good luck with your mixing project.  Hopefully hear from you when you're done.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, we had to put the fun free stuff on hold due to a current session with a local band.
I will try to bounce the stems when i get a chance. But noeq seems to have you covered & the song is taking a new direction!!! Its sounding good guys  ;D

Here is our take on Glorious Unknown.

If you would like details on what was used and what was done let me know  :)

Billy.
Billy, thanks for your take on this song.  i enjoyed what you've done.

Here's some notes I'm taking as I listen:
Intro sounds good.  I like where the drums and bass come in.  Bass sounds a bit muddy????  Mind you, I just moved into my new studio, and this is the first mix I've heard in here.  But in this room, can't tell if the bass is just too loud or needs some EQ.  Drums sound pretty roomy, mostly the snare.  The delay panned wide on the B/U vox with some kind of saturation added sounds cool, but I think the B/U vox need a little more substance in places..  You've done something to the piano toward the end of the song, doesn't sound as natural as I remember from the original take.  Sounds almost like an electric piano.  Did you put something on the piano?  I like the electric guitar part you added, but I think it, the drums, and the bass should cut out for the outro, probably right after the last "home".  I like just the acoustic and piano on the outro, just like the intro.  To me has a more intimate feel.

If some others could give some feedback on the bass in this mix, tell me if you agree about the muddiness, or bassiness.  I'm trying to learn this new room, and new monitor set-up.

It might be fun if you would post the stems you've added so we can all mix this as we go.

Thanks for taking the time to do this.  This is really fun, and something I"ve never done before.

The bass was tracked warm & smooth thru an original LA-2A. As you said it may be a problem with your low frequency response in your new room or maybe just a personal taste eq issue.

The piano is all yours other than a outboard Manley mp with very slight eq for clarity. & nothing was changed on the piano toward the end of the song, it is the same throughout.

The drums are dry, other than a small plate on the snare & the room mics were muted.
