Recorded some real drums you can layer or whatever.  If you like them I'll continue.

Muted the other perc tracks in this.

Wow, thanks man! I didn't actually think someone would do this :D :D
I do like these drums, I think they will cut a fine figure in the "heavy" parts of the song! For the first half of the song I *think* I would layer them with the electronic drums to some degree. Not sure yet. Basically the idea is that this song transforms from an electronic track into a rock song.

I was thinking that maybe the verse would sound more focused against that electronic stuff with the high hat closed pretty tight?

Also, if it isn't asked too much, I personally would love too hear the drums in the first chorus to be something like in this old demo:

...and in the second half of the second chorus maybe like this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/67245094/mixes/cosmo/cosmo_cymbals_chorus2.mp3

I also like what you did on the ride, maybe one could use both performances in the second chorus.

As for the heavy part, don't be afraid to put in some nice fills and stuff if that's your style, I think this tune can come alive at the end and get a little crazy with the guitar solo and all.

But I'm happy to hear your opinion/suggestions on this!
And thanks again!

Glad to hear it.

Yeah, I can play whatever you like.  I just played that ride bit during the chorus cause it sounded like you wanted it to be an uplifting sounding dance part, so I just played cymbals to go over the electronic drums.

Just wasn't sure what you wanted the final track to sound like.

I'll record some stuff tomorrow.

Well done on this track so far by the way.  I really enjoy the part at 2:27.

Hey maybe you could incorporate some high hat with that ride in the chorus? You know, some high hat doubles or something... Originally I though about a busy groovy kinda feel of the cymbals over the electronic drums. I guess the ride just seemed a little empty without the drum stems when I first listened to this.

I don't want to dictate to you what to play during the heavy parts of the song (as long as you don't do that lame snare fill from the loop every two bars  ;D ), the only direction I would give you is to stay on the crash most of the time and throw in some variations. Maybe you can support the change of harmony at 4:30 by altering the rhythm somewhat, that would be nice. Apart from that I would say do what feels right  ;D
Oh yeah, could you maybe try to do a little ritardando at the very end, disregarding the click for the last bar or so? I would edit the other instruments around this, I think this would make the ending sound much less chopped off. Thanks!

Here you are.  Sorry it took so long.

The second chorus part is honestly beyond my skill as a drummer.  I just played what felt right.  If you really are in love with what was played in that file, I can do it and it will sound real, but I wouldn't actually be playing it live.  I'd record probably 3 tracks and overlap them.  It's up to you.  If this is the case, just say so.

Hope the ending works too.

Awesome, thank you!
No, you don't have to duplicate that 2nd chorus part this way. I'll probably just layer it with the first one.

One thing however would be nice - if it's no trouble to you: Four or maybe eight bars of just straigt 16th notes on a tightly closed high hat. I would build a loop from this and layer it with the drums in the bridge section. And the same thing again thing but instead of the closed 16th notes, a pedal closed high hat on the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th 8th of a bar note and an opening hat on every other 8th note (that offbeat disco high hat thing). Would that be possible?
Thanks again!

I quantized the drum tracks so far and added accurate trigger markers for kick and snare. Everybody can download them here:

Hehe ;D, they were already quantized.  No big deal though I suppose.  The trigger markers are probably quite useful.

And yes, I'll play that as soon as I can.

Hehe ;D, they were already quantized and, I think closer to grid than the ones you posted.  I did the quantization manualy, and just seems that it was a little more accurate.  No big deal though I suppose.  The trigger markers are probably quite useful.

Oh man...  ;D ;D I actually also manually quantized them, I tried to keep everything in the 6ms range after the grid, so it's not completely locked in place, depending on the section of the song.
Why did't I hear this??  I have to say I'm a bit shocked ??? Did you also quantize the hihats inbetween or just kick and snare? Anyway, I'll take a look at this... shame on me  :o

Yeah, I quantized the cymbals as well, just not crashes because its nearly impossible.  How long did you spend quantizing?

The hats you requested - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22087900/40dBSPLHats.rar

Hope they're right, if not you should be able to edit them how you want.

Perfect, thanks!
I can't really say how long it took me... maybe an hour and a half. Pretty silly now  ;D - I'm gonna use your tracks, probably just move some fills around.
