When mixing with headphones I use a plugin called Redline Monitor. "It replaces the extreme stereo separation that is characteristic for headphones with the detailed stereo image of near-field monitor speakers." I also use open-back headphones which let bass escape. You never going to really get good bass response in headphones, but you at least want it to be able to exit out! Then I listen to my mixes in my car, computer speakers, ear buds, etc. to tell if the mix is translating well. It would be a lot easier with good monitors and a good acoustic listening space, but for now that's what I do!
