Hey Matias, really good ears... Yes i used Altiverb to simulate some room mics. Think it were the Wisseloord Studio IR´s. On drums i layerd different samples. All samples i collect over years from forums etc. Snare and toms got some Slate Z2 for more ambience.

BTW: There´s some serious amount of parallel compression going on.

Thanks for the info! And yes parallel compression for this kind of music is a must especially if you dont use samples. Have to check those room impulses, have been looking good room impulses for drums without proper room micing, I also have altiverb but havent used it so much on drums.

Heh, thats ok, I have more than enough drum samples and if I can I try to avoid using any samples,
just liked your kick very much, it sits well in the mix and is just great for rock music. Thanks for the snippet!   ;)

Hello. Here's my mixes from these songs. This project has acted as a reminder of how this kind of music should be mixed. Lately I've trying to go with
"less compression" route, but it seems that is simply not the ultimate solution here :)

hello everyone,

had time to do a mix today   8)
my first time replacing drums with samples ever : WOW! saves a lot of mixing time (no need for ringing out snr and toms, and trying to clean up mic spill )
anyway, here is my first mix :

cheers!

edit:  oops!  after listening to my mix again today , i realized that the snr drum is full of mistrighers  :o (notably audible in the very beginning of the song)
::) next time using samples and trigs, i'll watch out for that ;)

other mixes review :

TonyPizza : very spectacular mixe! not much negative things going on there .
there are only 2 Minor thing that i would still work on:
- the main vx is a little veiled (needs a little more clarity)
- the whole mix i thing has to much sub freq energy (small cut on a low shelf eq on the master would do the trick)
keep up the good work  8)

mixerlt : link doesn't work  ???

Spede : not bad at all!  8) mix works well and as a very fonctionnal balance, like the kik and snr very much, (maybe only the bass is to loud  :-\)
once again there are 2 thing that i would still work on :
- the whole mix is kind of veiled or dark (exception is the extreme high range (oh's) that is bright). the easy way out of this would probably be a shelf eq
  on the master
- the mix seems to be saturating in the very low-mid range (my guess would be that it's probably from the bass)

cheers everyone !  :)

Here's a really rough mix I did with head phones on my laptop, could do better if I had my setup at home but I'm too stoked on this songs. This is also the first mix I've ever shared with anyone haha so please rip it apart :D
