The supplied vocal tracks must break some sort of record, it´s so heavily tuned with a lot of artefacts....

Yes the main vocal had digital artifacts and a huge "s" problem. I checked the iTunes sample and at least the "s" issue was there.  The interesting thing about this remix is that the producer doesn't want a different song like a classic remix. He wants to see if someone can do better.  And yes it has a lot of tracks.
Equipment-Trends Micro amp w/ Paradigm Export speakers ports covered.  Use Fx EQ for  studio room issue fix.  Also use Klipsch S4 & Sennheiser HD-280 phones - home stereo= AMC 3030 tube amp, Triangle Celius 202 speakers & Behringer para EQ for room nodes-laptop=HP 8430 w/Digigram VXPocket & Reaper
