I didn't use any kind of physical equipment. Should I write which VST's did I use for this or just write that I used Cubase?

2
Yes!

Darn, I mastered it, is mastering allowed?  ;D No, I really did master it.

3
Is usage of drum samples allowed? I only used a kick drum sample and made a balance between the original kick and the sample. Didn't do resampling on anything else.

I don't have the original files, I only have the mixed and the mastered version of the album, no raw tracks, no anything so I was asking if it is possible for someone to make stems from the song itself and it looks like that isn't possible (which I thought it was).

No, that's pretty much impossible. But someone's gotta have the raw tracks?

I doubt they exist, the producer is a great guy, but not a good producer. Tho, the files were recorded 2004, and I wasn't in the band 'till January last year.

Hi Sergej

It's not uncommon for songs to be remixed from stems, but usually this is a fixup if the song wasn't mixed well in the first place and you can't get back to your mixing engineer to redo it. However, the stems themselves are mixes of a number of tracks and if theses aren't mixed well you're also stuck.

I suggest you make stems available like this (assuming these are the instruments):

- drums
- bass
- guitars
- keyboards
- lead vocals
- backing vocals

Post them as 44.1kHz, 24 bit (16 bit is ok if you can't do 24).

Cheers
Amos

The problem is that I can't make the stems (or don't know how to) because I haven't got great equipment or a great sound card and can't do the remix. Otherwise, if I had them I'd make it sound better.
So my question is if someone could make the stems. Btw, thanks for the response!

My band has done mastering for this LP, and the mix is horrible so the mastering couldn't be so great and I was wondering could I do a better job with stems than the mastering we payed for?

Just tell me what kind of audio format you want and I'll send it.

Btw, please don't repost the stems, etc anywhere.

Let me tell you....I love the space in the mix! It seems a bit far away which is to me what makes it seem like it is not professional. However, The music is awesome! It is a bit repetitive. If you honestly want to get better at mixing this type of music Go immediately to pensadosplace.tv and start learning techniques for mixing. THe next thing you need is a reference for this kind of music. May I suggest you go listen to and study As Cities Burn: Hell or High Water. I think it will really get you excited about trying to replicate that type of sound. Keep Mixing Bro!

This is an attempt of post-rock which I'm quite familiar with. It isn't mine song, I just found the raw tracks on the web and tried to do a mix of it. Thanks for the tips, I'm still learning, I'm a complete amateur so.. I'm doing my best! Thanks! :)

Wow, quite good mix. Has a great quality production, and I am impressed because I make electronic music.

Pros: great quality, good fx, beautiful string sections, good percussion
Cons: the bottle effect in the beggining sounds good but is way too apparent, the sound effect that appears around 2:22 has way too much boosted mid frequencies, so it kinda rapes ears

Overall it sounds really good.

Btw, check my mix out. Need opinions.. :P http://mixoff.org/index.php/topic,658.0.html

Please tell me what you think about it, it isn't too good, but I guess not bad either.

Things you should know about this:
-I don't have a good sound card
-I don't have great audio equipment
-I don't have physical compressors or any kind of other effects
-I was working in Cubase
-Amateur, really, I'm getting into it so I need advice
