Sounds fine to me.  Placebo effect.

It may also have to do with whether you're allowing people to download the file, or only stream it. I think allowing downloads is the only way to ensure people get the actual file, unmodified.

i compared the stream to the original and it seems identical to me.
hey huntermusic try a wav or aiff and let me know what u hear please.

hey john is there any way besides clicking on the notify button to  be automatically notified of replies that u post on?

thanks

I have a soundcloud account however I never use it...Not sure why.

I do notice when people post soundcloud links to mixes that sometimes when you click on play the file will not play...happens a lot for me and soundcloud.

Maybe its the computer not working properly or something...still running on XP which might not help the cause either.

Noticed no differnce in quality from soundcloud, although...

any possibility of us being able to embed the tracks into a post from soundcloud? (for those that want to?)

I think SC sounds the best out of em all tbh. I find SC keeps the file integrity pretty well as opposed to crappy players like myspace and such.

I always thought Soundcloud sounded fine even while streaming, but I recently posted an MP3 with a lot of weird harmonics that the Soundcloud could not handle - it sounds glitchy.  This is just in the streaming version.

From soundcloud help
Quote
Sometimes our transcoding system can create audio artifacts, as we transcode all tracks to 128 kbps mp3 for streaming playback. Uploading a lossless or high-quality lossy file will usually reduce these to a minimum, but unfortunately there's not much we can do for the handful of individual tracks that are still affected.

If you choose to make your track downloadable though, the version users can download will be an exact copy of the version you uploaded, without any transcoding.

Is it possible to use those soundcloud widgets or player here on mixoff forum?
On the gearslutzx forum there are special tags to insert your soundcloud files.

If you use the
Code: [Select]
[HTML][/HTML] tags around the embedded player it should work:

Let me know if it doesn't work for you...

<iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F12499447&show_artwork=true"></iframe>

Let me know if it doesn't work for you...
That code between HTML tags. How do you create it or can it be find somewhere from soundcloud web page?

When you click 'share' on Soundcloud it pops out a menu, which has an 'embed' field with that code. Just click in there and copy it, then paste it here between the 'html' tags.

Still not working.
Those html tags disappear and only that iframe part is visible.
Code: [Select]
[html]<iframe width="100%" height="166" scrolling="no" frameborder="no" src="http://w.soundcloud.com/player/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F42638783&show_artwork=true"></iframe>[/html]

It looks like the html tags got stripped out when posting before, I changed the settings a bit, try it again and see if it works for you. It did for me,  but it may be because of my admin privileges...

Now it works in my previous post to this thread, but it doesn't work in the message at the thread of that song.

Hmmm, I fixed it for you, but I wish I knew why it wasn't working. I have the forum set to allow html and flash in posts. I'll keep looking for a solution.

Just a bit of my recent experience with Soundcloud:

First, ProTools 10 includes a "share to SoundCloud" option when exporting your mixes.
This I find very timesaving and useful.

Second, I have found that leaving headroom wothin your mix helps the upload encoding process IMMENSELY.
Usually, I leave anywhere from 3 to 6 dB of headroom of the peaks to the maximum volume of the file, 0dBFS.

Third, it really is helping me to realize where the mixes stand after being encoded into SoundCloud. Things that are phasey really crap out, things that were too "subtle" in the mix are completely lost, so generally I can decide to adjust my mixes a little bit according to what is coming out of the SoundCloud encding process.

I recommend people here start using this service, or anything like it, as more and more music is being accessed online. It is the delivery media for the 21st Century.
Cheers

Same problem in this message http://mixoff.org/index.php/topic,485.msg7054.html#msg7054

Can it be some option in forum software that prevent the use of html by normal member?

I also tried the flash-player but couldn't get it to work either.

Apparently it's not possible with the forum software to allow html in posts (other than admin posts.)

I'll keep checking and see if there's a way to allow just soundcloud. I know gearslutz can do it, but they're using a different forum package.

Here's a test from a regular account:

Ok, so if you just put in the link to your song, using the little red 'Soundcloud' BBCode, it should work.

John

(this is a mod I just applied, so if you have any tips for working with it, please add them!)

Thank you.

Now it works similar as in the gearslutz forum.

Is it showing the player with no track, or nothing at all? Sometimes, tracks aren't available, I assume this is a soundcloud problem.

Is it possible that you didn't set it to be public (on soundcloud?) I know it's possible to make a track private.
