Title: Casualty (Guitar,keys,lyrics,vocals,other) 100 bpm
Post by: Vincent on May 22, 2011, 02:29:10 AM

100 bpm

I recorded a few guitar tracks then PM'd Loon to lay down a drum track...couple hours later and here we are.

Love the sound of the drum recording...excellent...makes my guitar tracks sound small...I may have to double up some tracks.

I did a rough quick mix...i like the big snare sound I was able to mix in there...not bad.

mp3 preview...dont record to mp3 because of timing issues...thanks

WAV file for tracking

When i get a chance i will post the guitar tracks I have now even though they may get redone to real drum track.

If you do redo the guitar, would it be possible to record the DI's as well? They're always more fun to work with.

Here's a solo'd drum track if anyone wants to record to it.

Maybe some nasty bas from mua... I'll need some sort of chord chart,
snake oil lamp to guide me though... as I am always short on time for fun things.

Not sure I can record DI at the same time I record amp...I have a modest recording setup...basically a guitar, amp, mic, preamp and interface.

I would have to record twice to make seperate DI stems...I could probably do it...just a bit more work.

Im uploading the few tracks I have now even though I will redo...I get lots of track bleed on my tracks and you can hear click track on them...would rather hear new drum track if I have to live with track bleed.

Here is loons link to drum stems.

Bass...just recorded it

I decided to record some bass for this about a half hour ago however it isnt great or anything so if you want to lay down a different track that would good.

When I get a chance I will tab guitar parts out...I usually tab instead of using chord charts because I usually use parts of chords and not full chords most times and theres usually riffs in there somewhere as well.

Haha, love the Maiden Influenced Leads

I'd like to throw down some tracks/write some lyrics for this but I'm scrounging for time these days, and most of my mixing/writing hours are reserved for putting together my bands album (will post a mix off or two from that tracking session once we get the vocals done) - If someone comes up with lyrics and wants me to take a stab at singing it though I'll lay down some quick and/or dirty vocal tracks ;)

I did part of a vocal melody Idea.

Im not a singer...Lately Ive been trying some backup vocals just in an attempt to enhance songs a bit.

I have a few lyrics written but not much.

I definately want a better singer on this thing than me...I may be able to do some backups...maybe.

JoshERTW I will see if I can write more lyrics...here is what i have so far

How I know
You hate the night
Traffics slow
Tonight
Radio on
You Hear The News
Another ones down
Maybe two

I wonder if there are any keyboard players on this site...I want to fill in back of song with keys.

I did a really bad keyboard pad example using my computer keyboard...to much latency to get anything good though.

Hello again.

Here are my lyrics:

I saw the people
i thought i knew
and how in dark times
they helped me through
what have they done with
their crooked selves
they're painting shadows
in prison cells

   i dont know why
   i cant stop myself
   im in the corner
   creating my own hell
   with one another
   its suicide
   another casualty
will bring me to my knees

i've been forgiven
for what i'd done
too bad its too late
i'm only one
with my misfortune
be glad you're you
after my passing
ill face the truth

As well as a test vocal run-through.

If you want the stems right click the links I have in earlier posts and save to computer.

Hope that helps

I expect Monkey will to beat me to it - I've got some deadlines to meet and won't be able to assist anytime soon...

Cool lyrics though, sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Well I got the tracks but haven't been able to do anything yet. Got a new job managing a nightclub, put 4 kids and 2 dogs in the mix and I don't have a whole lotta time but plan on starting things this weekend. Also, I just upgraded to PT9, so I'm feelin' like a kid in a candy store who gets paid on Friday!

No rush guys...whenever you have time to record is fine.

Im going to add guitar to the collab auditions as well...wouldnt mind having someone with a better amp sound playing the guitar parts...Im recording with an sm57 and a roland cube (cube is ok sounding but not great)...I wouldnt mind if guys with some nicer amps wanted to record some guitar tracks for this...I will still have my bass track in the song so I wont be left out entirely.

If we have no takers for new guitar tracks I will keep going with what we have.

Have been breaking this thing down in sections, the drums weren't doing it for me, beef'd up the gtars...now mind you this is not even a rough mix cause i'm still working with it and i won't do vocals until the music is roughly mixed.... :o

I can always redo lead guitar parts to looms drums (I didnt redo them yet)...I wouldnt mind other guitar players to join in as well...perhaps they can redo lead or even make it better than what it is now.

Ive been adding some midi keyboard stuff to song...Im not sure what will stay and will not.

Willing to replace any of the parts I did with better ones if anyone has ideas for song and has better keyboard sounds or guitar sounds.

Im not sure what direction to take song...all depends on vocals I guess.

If you need an updated WAv file for tracking just ask and I will post...I may have to repost my stems however I wouldnt mind redoing the guitars first.

Hi there, just wanted to know if there is still interest in this collaboration as the last post was a few months ago. I am downloading the drums from loons last post and will get the guitars and bass etc later on. I am a guitarist and have a pretty decent home studio set up so I will have a crack if the interest is still there. I can do some playing as well as mixing production. Let me know if this one is still alive.

This is still alive

I have a couple of directions the song could go in.

was thinking an effervescence type of vocal may work...Girls Voice

--------

As the way song is now its almost sounding like it could be a video game song with no vocals (vietnam war type of thing)...maybe some cool lead guitar and stuff.

BTW first time listening to that keyboard part of yours Vincent.  Some parts are pretty cool.  Wouldn't mind those stems/midi whenever it's convenient.

I dont think I used midi 7 in my mix...feel free to use or loose any keyboard track...we can always fill in areas of song with lead instruments.

Just re-downloaded the drums, new guitar stems, and keyboards.

Are the lyrics that were on here good for everyone? I'll try to be in line with what someone already sung on here.

I'll take a crack at singing some gruff metal vocals.

But first, it HAS TO SOUND F^&%ING HEAVY.

Cheers

Ok, here you go:

I replaced the bass. And got rid of the super gay-ish synths, please don't take offense Vincent... I kept two synths, they were ok...

All I have to do is destroy my throat, and sing some nasty sounding metal on top.
